Our Story

Based in the Los Angeles area, MARCALI brings forth an innovative take on traditional furniture designs, merging modern aesthetics with Hollywood glamour. Blending their backgrounds in film, design and manufacturing, the Marcali team sought to create beautiful, timeless furniture that will last for generations. In 2008, the husband and wife duo, David and Jennifer Dolak, launched MARCALI, a rapidly expanding made-to-order product line that features elegant upholstered furniture, unique hardware, exquisite case goods, Italian leathers, luxury indoor and outdoor textiles, and outdoor furnishings to the qualified trade. Their initial collection of eight upholstered pieces has grown to over 90 unique product offerings, with several new additions each year. Sold exclusively to qualified trade professionals in the interior design field, MARCALI pieces can be found in showrooms throughout the United States.  

MARCALI offers custom, made to order production capabilities for any size project imaginable. From concept to completion, MARCALI provides unsurpassed abilities in woodworking, finishing, upholstery, and metal work to designers and design firms alike. MARCALI specializes in the High-End Residential, Commercial and Hospitality markets. Each piece is handcrafted in the MARCALI workroom in California by skilled artisans trained in traditional European techniques.

In addition to their furniture line, MARCALI takes on a few, very select and private, interior design projects each year.

Our Founders

In 2008, after more than a decade of manufacturing and consulting for several top name high end private labels in the furniture industry, the MARCALI team made the decision to utilize their industry and design knowledge to launch their own line of custom, made to order fine furnishings and case goods. David enjoys his time working/managing with their son’s rock band, StandBy, playing basketball, spending time with family and tending to their 50+ tree fruit orchard. Jennifer is an avid baker, book reader, design connoisseur and loving mom to four kiddos. The duo enjoy traveling overseas and seeing designs around the world.

Our Legacy and Sustainable Production

While many design houses are taking their primary production overseas and import pieces from a dirty supply chain, at MARCALI, we believe in supporting the local economy, which is why all of our MARCALI pieces, including our teak offerings, are 100% designed and hand crafted in Southern California. In keeping with our commitment to the environment, MARCALI sources only FSC certified woods, uses low to no-VOC glues, paints and finishes, and uses natural latex foam padding and wraps where possible. MARCALI has established an in-house recycling system to eliminate as much waste as we can from going to our landfills. While we strive to make our techniques and components sustainable, we know that creating bespoke furniture that will last 50 or 100 years or more, is by far the best way to build an eco-friendly path forward for future generations. Making beautiful, well-made furniture that is worth passing down is what we strive for.
