Wildwood Dresser on Dering Hall
The Marcali Wildwood Dresser was featured on this morning's Dering Hall email blast (you can see a screen cap of the email blast below - the Wildwood is the piece at the top right). It is one of our favorite pieces (I have two in my bedroom at home) and it was very exciting to see it pop up in our emails this morning. Hope you're all having a lovely day!

Marcali Featured in AD Germany!
When a package arrived from Germany bearing the Condé Naste logo, we knew it could only mean one thing… The Noosa Teak Lounge chair was actually gracing the pages of German Architectural Digest! The March issue to be exact. They had contacted David months ago asking for information on the chair, but we hadn’t heard anything after that so we thought maybe nothing would ever come of it. Much to our delight, they actually chose to feature our chair and we are absolutely over the moon. It is such an honor to be featured in such a highly respected publication! I only wish that the semester of German I took in college had been of better assistance in reading the description! I hope you’re all having a happy and fabulous Friday!

Throwback Thursday: Noosa Shoot in Malibu
Today everyone in the office thought that it might be fun to jump on the Throwback Thursday bandwagon and bring you some behind-the-scenes shots from last year’s Noosa shoot. The pictures were taken last January which is why there were no other people there. Despite the fact that it looks like a gorgeous sunny day at the beach, it was actually quite cold. Well, cold by LA standards anyway. It was probably in the mid 60s, which would be extremely warm in most parts of the country, but in our neck of the woods that’s practically frigid. Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Lonny Magazine and Ikea present: What's Your Spring Style?
Spring is in the air (at least here in L.A.) and we are all counting down the days until bathing suit season officially begins. With the arrival of spring, many of us like to lighten things up in our homes a bit, whether it’s simply removing the covers from our outdoor furniture, bringing in fresh flours or changing out the throw pillows on our sofas. The good people over at Lonny Magazine have an awesome new quiz presented by Ikea that asks, “What’s your spring style?” Curious, some of us in the Marcali offices took a break from fabric swatches and finish samples to take the quiz. Here were our results:
David is “The Professor”
“You don’t put Monocle on your peg-leg coffee table to impress—you actually read it. And your bookcase, meticulously arranged (by theme, not by color—how preposterous!) is sparingly interspersed with curios of the magnifying-glass and agate-bookend variety. If you were ever to get a tattoo, it would be Dieter Rams–themed, reading “less but better,” and when it comes to seating, you’re on a strictly last-name basis: Wagner, Eames, Bertoia, and Saarinen.”
In the clique: Cliff Fong
Your new best friends: One-of-a-kind ceramics—for the bookcase.
Jennifer is “The Prom Queen”
“When “matching” came back in, you threw a party—cocktail attire required, of course. You revel in a sense of occasion, and never met a dog statue or chandelier (be it Sputnik or crystal) that you didn’t like. Still, you’ve got a few new decorating tricks up your sleeve: these days, you’re mixing brighter ’80s-inspired colors with those pastel hues and experimenting with black-and-white dazzle camo to make that tufted headboard look especially fresh.”
In the clique: Celerie Kemble
Your new best friend: Less-done animal prints (as in dalmatian).
Michelle is “The Hippie”
“Philosophically you lean minimal, because, you know, mo’ stuff mo’ problems, but you just can’t help collecting things: dreamcatchers, hand-knit afghans, kitschy artwork, and succulents by the cartload. Your taste in textiles runs organic in shape and texture: yes to seagrass and jute area rugs, warm wood tones, and nature-inspired floral prints. You call it ‘rustic West Coast garage sale.’ We call it inspired.”
In the clique: You don’t believe in cliques.
Your new best friend: Woven wall hangings.
Our results were fairly accurate. Want to know your spring style? Head over to Lonny to find out.
Frank Ponterio's Picks for Dering Hall
I adore Dering Hall’s daily features and in particular their “Shop with a Designer” column, so you can imagine my delight when I learned that two of our Marcali pieces were included in today’s curated list by celebrated Chicago designer, Frank Ponterio. His list, celebrating the Beauty of American Craftsmanship can be found here.
Of the Niobe Banquette, Ponterio writes:
“The husband-and-wife team behind Marcali Designs Inc create traditional designs meant to be passed down from generation to generation. I love the hand-carved wood back, tufting and nail head detail and find that this rounded bench would fit as easily in a cozy breakfast nook as in a formal interior.”
And of the Emerson Side Chair he says:
“Through the extensive finishing options, the transformative quality of this chair is front and center. Whether it’s upholstered or all wood, the classic shape keeps it rooted in tradition while the flared back leg, which drew me to the piece initially, offers a subtle flourish.”
Be sure to check out the complete list. It is quite impressive. You should also take a look at Frank Ponterio’s impressive portfolio at his website , and you can see more of our Marcali products on Dering Hall and on our Marcali Designs website.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
In honor of Saint Patrick’s day, I thought it was fitting to showcase two of the fabrics from Marcali’s 2014 outdoor collection that will debut this spring. The fabric on the left is from our Paradise collection and the fabric on the right is from our Hot Fuzz collection. Both of the fabrics are 100% Sunbrella® acrylic and made in the U.S.A.
